As Ross Pake knows, the two essential elements of hitting a golf ball are strength and direction. Strength will help you get the ball farther down the fairway, but if you apply that strength without knowing how to properly direct the ball, you can end up hitting it in the wrong direction and further hurting your golf game. Below are some tips on keeping the ball straight so that it is always moving towards the cup.
Keep Your Eye on the Ball
Most golfers know to look at the ball as they swing. The problem is that most of the time, they will turn their heads down the course prematurely as a means of being able to watch the ball travel. It is best to leave that duty to your spectators; and keep your eyes on where the ball is placed for as long as possible. Turning your head prematurely not only limits your vision of the ball, but it also forces muscles in your body to shift in a direction that will affect the ball’s direction.
Create a Line
When about to hit the ball, bend your knees and place the head of your club behind the ball. From there, move the club back in a straight line. This allows you to position your body to keep that club on the imaginary line as you bring it forward while swinging, further enhancing your ability to swing straight and therefore hit the ball straight.
